DOPEY LOPES & The UP ALL NIGHT BAND
Dopey Lopes & The Up All Night Band is one of RI's best-known and longest-running alternative rock bands. They continuously electrify audiences of all ages with their high-energy live shows, featuring heartfelt original songs plus some uniquely styled covers by David Bowie, Peter Tosh, Mark Cutler, and Cat Stevens. Dopey and the Band is thrilled to be appearing at HEMPSTOCK 2022. The Band members have devoted a lot of time over the years to the Hemp cause, including appearances at the 15th Anniversary Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, multiple Freedom Rally's on the Boston Common, and the American Marijuana Music Awards. They have shared the stage with such legendary artists as Cypress Hill, George Clinton, and members of the 420 Funk Mob, among many others. The band features ASCAP award-winning songwriter Dopey Lopes on Vocals and Guitar, RI Music Hall of Fame artist Stumpy Nation on Drums, Sir Rockingham on Lead Guitar, and Peter Breen on Bass.

Brian Essenter RPh Diplomate of Medical Cannabinoid Science®
Brian Essenter RPh is a graduate of Northeastern University, a Pharmacist and Cannabis Pharmacist in the Connecticut Medical Marijuana Program since 2015. Brian founded MM Consult CT in 2018 where he counsels patients on the effects and side effects of medical cannabis, possible interactions with other medications, and consults for businesses. Brian also works for John Patrick University and The Institute of Cannabinoid Medicine where he teaches classes for their Diplomate of Medical Cannabinoid Science program. Brian has been a strong voice advocating for medical cannabis patients, and equality in the cannabis industry at local, state, and national levels.

Dr. Robert Rafka
Dr. Robert Rafka, was born and raised in upstate New York. He began his training in chemistry at Syracuse University where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude. He holds a doctorate degree in carbohydrate chemistry from Queen’s University in Ontario and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Monell Center in Philadelphia. He was a chemist at Pfizer for 24 years and retired as an Associate Research Fellow. Bob now teaches high school chemistry and physics in Groton. In 2011, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Bob is a Master Gardener with URI and achieved Hall of Fame status in 2011.
He’ll be speaking on the selection of growing media for potted plants.

River & Imanee from The Haven Earth
The Haven Earth PMA is a team of professionals coalescing around a common vision, bringing decades of hard earned knowledge and experience to implement our common mission of creating natural living environments and systems focused around agrarian models of living, growing, cultivating and harvesting a new way of living. We offer a holistic approach to developing projects from concept to implementation, educating others about natural building materials and techniques as well as training and support for the construction process. River and Imani met through the Brave New Life Community Conversations started in 2020 exploring Human Ecology through the lens of Syntropy (Nature). This exploration of relating and the search for sovereign solutions has built an online community with over 10k members. Imani and River have traveled thousands of miles to meet face to face with community members and navigate the path of building the “hemplate” that will model and build regenerative communities from the inside out.

Dr. Matthew DeBacco
Dr. Matthew DeBacco has worked with farmers across the state as a Nutrient Management on- farm Planner where he helped growers allocate nutrients in a cost-effective manner and has been the head diagnostician at the UConn Diagnostic Lab. He also has provided personalized consulting along with diagnosing field problems through UConn Extension services. In addition, at UConn he has developed two cannabis courses an introductory and an advanced level class. The introductory level was the nation’s first at a public university and the advanced level allows students to choose their own path through the course content. He has a YouTube channel “DeBacco University” where people can find educational videos that he has produced. As a hobby, he enjoys growing giant pumpkins and has held the Connecticut state record twice, with his largest being 1,885.5 pounds.
